First up I would like to congratulate representative players Aaron Hickson, Kyle Connor, Michael Stephenson, Tom Bozinovski, Dale Schifleet for there selection in the Illawarra Seniors, Scott Sharman for being selected in the Illawarra 21’s & 19’s, Jake Gomboso & Will Lucas for being selected in the Illawarra 17’s.
Also congratulations to some of our young stars for there selection in the Illawarra 15’s – Blake Redman, Cameron Magennis, Adam Coughlan-Ryan, Rhys Noronha & Nathan Smith
Truman Driscoll also attended the Bradman camp where he said he enjoyed the camp and learnt heaps which is good as Truman has been bowling well in 3’s in his first year in grade
Special mention to our cricketers from the under 16’s Blake Redman, Cameron Magennis, Rhys Noronha, Nathan Smith, Adam Coughlan-Ryan, Joel Hawksworth, Kieran & Zac Doyle, Nick Gerovasilas, Shannon Bonnie and Jacob Cann who have also been playing grade on a regular basis and being strong contributors to there respective teams. As coach I really appreciate your efforts and look forward to you guys climbing the grades over the next couple of seasons.
In 1st grade centuries & excellent batting performances from Marshy & Hicko with good support from Harry have laid the platform for our bowlers with Harves & Boz leading our bowling with 20 & 17 wickets respectively to put 1’s in 1st place at the half way mark. I’m sure if the boys remain focused we can give this competition a real shake. Keep up the excellent work boys!!
2’s wouldn’t be happy with there first half of the season but have a favourable draw and if they can string a few results together they are chance of making the semis. Veteran Shannon ODonnell is leading the bowling and still showing the young ones how it’s done. Another veteran Jeff Hurd is leading the batting with 134 runs. Special mention to Gaz scoring his first century well done mate!!
In 3’s it was great to see young Blake Redman score 50 on debut. 3’s are just one point out of the 4 with consistent performances from captain Stevo with both bat & ball & with many different players performing well making strong contributions including Troy Redman 111 & 6 wickets in the one game, 12 wickets to Josh Sigmond, half centuries to Dave Hicks, Will Lucas, Jack Singleton, Blake Redman, Mark Pearson, Dylan Noronha & Wayne Paton
4’s are in 2nd place which is great effort from the boys. Daniel Sulcs has been the standard out with bat scoring 296 including one century. He has been well supported by Jayce Chandler. With the ball long serving Dapto player Pat Hutley leads the bowling with 19 wickets and well supported by Brant Gillen with 12 wickets.
Our four 5th grade teams are doing well with the Sumner boys leading the comp by one point to arch rivals the Dandy. The soccer boys are in 5th place & our newest 5th grade team the Reds are in 8th place. The leading batsmen are Nick Hardy 310 runs including two centuries, ex Steeler Dean Callaway 198 runs & Greg Flack with 195. With the ball the leading wicket takers are Ben Mulcahy (18), Aaron Mills (17) & Scott Tozer (15)
